In case you've been living under a rock for the past week, there's a pretty big tournament going on in Las Vegas right now. And it's breaking records.

It's no surprise, then, that most of our attention has been focused on the 2018 World Series of Poker Main Event over the past few days. But a few other things have caught our eye this week too, including a letter from one legend to another, some Twitch highlights, and a look back at what we believe is the most moving story ever published on PokerStars Blog.

All of that and more in our round-up of the week's PokerStars news.

• WSOP Main Event coverage
• 'Thanks, Daniel.' - A letter to Negreanu by Phil Galfond
• From the archive: Stages (the most moving story we've ever published on PokerStars Blog)
• Twitch round-up
• #PokerCup down to quarter finals

WSOP Main Event coverage

Our reporter extraordinaire Howard Swains is out in the Vegas heat, so you don't have to be. All week he's been bringing you excellent feature pieces as the 2018 WSOP Main Event gets going on its 13-day journey.

WSOP in full swing

From Team Pro interviews to flip-out satellite winners, record-breaking action to 4th July fireworks, you'll find all of Swains's work at the link below. Stay tuned to the PokerStars Blog throughout the Main Event as they play down to a new world champion.

'Thanks, Daniel.' - A letter to Negreanu by Phil Galfond

Earlier this week, Daniel Negreanu put out a tweet highlighting some of the people he felt the game of poker was lucky to have. Phil Galfond was rightly on that short list.

But what Galfond did next was quite surprising. He replied not with a 'thanks' or a 'back atcha', but rather a heartfelt letter explaining why Negreanu was such an important figure not only in his life personally, but to the entire poker world.

From the archive: Stages (the most moving story we've ever published on PokerStars Blog)

This year, PokerStars Blog is attending its 15th consecutive World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event. We've been here since Raymer, through Hachem, Eastgate, Cada, Duhamel et al. Periodically through the 2018 renewal, we'll dig out some coverage from yesteryear and take a look at how things went down back then.

Vanessa Pacella: Playing the WSOP under the toughest circumstances

This week, we revisited the most moving story we've ever published on PokerStars Blog. It's a tale of two remarkable women living their dream and playing the World Series of Poker, but doing so under the toughest circumstances (with an update to the 2014 story at the bottom of the piece), as told by Brad Willis.

Twitch round-up

As thousands of players are currently grinding live poker in Vegas, you might say this is the perfect time to get online and play a few tournaments on PokerStars.

Spraggy sockin' it to you

Spraggy, Innerpsy and MattStaples certainly have, and they've been streaming it all on Twitch too...albeit with different results.

Check out our weekly Twitch round-up here.

#PokerCup down to quarter finals

Do you follow us on Twitter? Then you've no doubt seen a series of polls we've been running, pitting two famous poker players up against each other for what might look like no good reason at all.

In fact, it's all been part of the PokerStars Blog #PokerCup, and now 32 players and countries have been whittled down to just eight.

It's quarter finals time, and you can check out all the upcoming fixtures at the link below.

#PokerCup Quarter Finals set, just eight remain.
